MST Launch Website with online ordering 3 November 2008

On 3rd November the MST website opened for business. Whilst there are still many more developments to come this move offers the long overdue opportunity for customers to place orders onto our systems themselves and to their own time constraints.
The website is a major part of the development of the IT side of the business and proof of MST’s commitment to add value to the customer offer. The website has been designed, constructed and implemented within 7 weeks of the change of ownership and again signals the new Managements move away from the lack of development and innovation from the previous ownership.

Sabir Tayub, MD and owner of MST said “MST has long been behind the times in terms of investment and innovation and this Website see’s the start of a new dynamic, customer orientated focus within the business. The changes to the PLOF and the implementation of the Website are just the start of major improvements and developments in the business designed to make the service we offer to customers the best in the sector. We have already added around 600 products to our range, another area we will continue to develop”

MST sign up with Scania to replace HGV Fleet 31 October 2008

On Friday 31st October MST signed a contract with Scania (GB) for 40 new HGV vehicles, to replace the existing fleet.  This represents a major investment by MST in upgrading and increasing it’s distribution capacity. The new trucks will begin to appear in January 09, with the fleet fully replaced by March 2009.

MST will use the opportunity of replacing the fleet to allow manufacturers to buy space on the vehicles to advertise their products. This will signal the end of “the big red truck”, but the new white vehicles will shortly become a regular sight on the High Street.

The deal allows MST to maintain the long association with Scania and continue with servicing and maintenance from the local dealer, which has helped to maintain a reliable fleet. Commenting on the deal Peter Cooke, Transport Manager said “This is a great demonstration of the new Company’s commitment to developing and expanding business through investment and innovation”

A BILBOROUGH wholesale business has bought a Yorkshire rival. 15 October 2008

SERT UK, which employs 35 people at its Glaisdale Drive East base, specialises in household and health and beauty goods.

The £75m-turnover company has taken over M&S Toiletries of Wakefield, which supplies independent retailers and chemists.

Sabir Tayub, managing director of SERT, said the acquisition of M&S, which employs 140 people, from Scottish and Midland Co-operative Society would boost the firm's expansion plans.

He said: "This has been a rare opportunity to acquire a well-run, profitable company. We have already invested £250,000 in a new computer system."

SERT is part of Artrade Holdings, a national wholesaler. The terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

Rick Wilson, corporate finance partner at PKF in Nottingham who advised SERT, said: "At a time when there is a lower level of deal activity it is encouraging to be involved in a deal which sees a local company seize the opportunity to grow."

SERT's other advisers included John Haycox from Lloyds TSB and Andrew Borkowski from law firm Geldards.
